The Global Influence of Chinese Lacquerware

Lacquerware is a unique cultural symbol of China. Beginning around the 3rd century BCE, China had spread the art of lacquerware to other countries. As trade routes were established followed by the moving of people, exchanges occurred with neighboring regions and even across the sea, bringing Han dynasty lacquerware to as far as Crimea on the Black Sea coast. From the Tang and Song dynasties onwards, Chinese lacquerware and its technique were exported to the neighboring countries such as Korea and Japan, influencing the development of lacquerware style.
